Divide for Body and Sleeves:

Knit 23, place on holder, Knit 26 with straight needle, leaving balance of stitches on circular needle

Sleeve one:

Row 1: Working on the 26 stitches just worked Purl

Row 2: Knit

Repeat rows 1 and 2 for 4 ½" ending with a purl row.

Cuff

K1, P1 for 6 rows. Bind off as if to purl. Do not break off but using a crochet hook, slip stitch your sleeve closed with right sides together.

Taking crochet loop left , place it on circular needle

K 2 stitches together , then knit across remaining body stitches (total of 40 stitches) and slip onto holder with first 23 stitches. Knit across next 26 stitches for second sleeve with straight needle and work as for first sleeve. Place loop left after crocheting sleeve closed onto circular needle, K2 tog, and across remaining 22 stitches.

Body of sweater:

Picking up all stitches: K 3, Purl across, purl across stitches on holder until only 3 remain, K3

Row 1 and all uneven rows: Knit across

Row 2 and all even rows: K3, Purl until 3 remain, K3

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until body is 4" long.

Knit 6 rows even and bind off as if to Purl.

Crochet a chain approximately 25" and weave through row 5 of collar or crochet button loops and add buttons if you prefer. You might wish to crochet a second chain and thread it through only the body holes of row 27.
