The Fan and Feather Shrug Pattern designed from original pattern posted in the Fall/Early Winter Knit Wit Knits Newsletter. by Gail Bable, copyright Dec. 2005 Materials Approx. 540 yards worsted weight yarn. The yarn pictured above is an old brushed acrylic mix called Windmist by Brunswick Size 24” to 29” size 7 and size 10 circular needle Yarn needle for weaving in ends. Cuff: Cast on 40 sts with size 7 needles and working back and forth. Row 1-12: *K1,P1* across rows. Change to size 10’s Row 13: K1, P1, K1, P1, knit across increasing 28 sts evenly until 4 sts remain, end by *K1,P1* twice Row 14: *P1, K1* twice, Purl across until 4 sts remain, *P1, K1* twice Pattern Rows: Row 1: K1, P1 twice, K2 tog twice, [YO, K1, 4 times, K 2 tog 4 times] repeat from [ to ] 3 more times, end with YO, K1
4 times, K 2 tog twice, *K1, P1* twice. Row 2 and 4: P1, K1 twice, P 60, P1, K1 twice Row 3: K1, P1, twice, K 60 , K 1, P1 twice Repeat these 4 rows until piece measures desired length minus the cuff. Decrease rows to cuff: Row 1: K1, P1, twice, knit and decrease 28 sts evenly until 4 sts remain, K1, P1 twice Row 2: P1, K1 twice, Purl until 4 sts remain, P1, K1 twice Cuffs, with size 7 needles: Row 1-12: K1, P1 across Bind off and break off yarn leaving an 18” tail. Sew up cuffs and part way up shrug sleeve about four inches |
